What is Dental Implant Surgery
Dental implant surgery is a procedure that involves placing a metal alloy or implant frame into the jawbone beneath the gums. Once positioned correctly, the dentist attaches a new tooth to the implanted root.
The implant resembles a screw and is made of titanium metal. A dental implant consists of three parts:
- Implant (Fixture) made from titanium metal, shaped like a tooth root, and embedded in the jawbone. It can firmly attach without causing tissue inflammation or any side effects.
- Abutment After the implant is placed in the jawbone, it takes about 4-6 months for the implant to integrate well with the bone. Then, the abutment is placed on the implant to support the crown.
- Crown the part above the gum, made from ceramic (porcelain), shaped and colored like a natural tooth.
